Pick and pack paperless process - how to display the list of shipments picked and not packed yet?

Hello,

In my company the pick and pack process is:
-print picking lists when processing the wave
-use the scanner (warehouse management app) to scan the shipment or work number and do the picking
-go to the computer "pack" screen and enter (scan) the shipment number to do the packing

The information in the scanner is sufficient to perform the picking.
We only need to print the picking list to get the shipment number, which is needed for packing.

Is your process similar?  Do you also use printouts for pick & pack or do you manage without?

I'd be grateful for anybody to share his experience.

And maybe somebody would know a way to find all shipments "picked but not packed"?
I go to "on-hand by location" then look at item warehouse transactions to find the shipment number, but I suspect there is a better way.  It would be nice to have drop-down list in the pack form, with the list of shipments to pack.

Thank you by advance for your help

Thanks for all your answers. I'm very grateful to you for sharing your tips and knowledge.

I had a go at trying to pack in the mobile device and use detour to find a shipment, but if I'm correct there is no way to filter in this detour only the "picked" shipments (or even better: packed shipment for my specific pack location).

The LP solution is smart, although I'd rather like MS to develop idea Microsoft Idea so we don't need an extra label.

It's always interesting to know how others are solving challenges, again thank you very much.

    Hello

Do you want to view the shipment details on the mobile app ? for this

You can configure a Detour for the Pack mobile app menu item, which allows you to list all shipments or apply filters. Upon selection, the shipment number can be automatically submitted back to the Pack screen

    Hello..

Have you tried the Detour option during picking and Packing. For all my  paperless improvement, I have used Detour function to minimize the scanning.

Pick and pack paperless process - how to display the list of shipments picked and not packed yet?
    Hi Alexandra,

If you want to remove paper from the picking process, you need some other way to assign Work to the user's scanner.

One way is to use a mobile device menu item with the Activity code = Display open work list.

Another would be to use mobile device menu items configured to do System directed work processing.

But you still have the problem that when the items arrive at the packing area, the packer needs to know which shipment they are for. To solve this, you can use the Target License plate Id. You may need to adjust your picking process slightly to accommodate. One way to do it is to give your pickers pre-printed 'license plate' labels. And you need to configure the picking flow to ask for a Target license plate Id.

At the start of the picking process, the user will be asked to scan the Target LP Id. They reach for a pre-printed label, scan it, and stick the label on to the item they have picked (or onto whatever they using to carry the items they have picked to the packing area - for example, onto the pallet or trolley or whatever it is they are using).

At the packing area, you'll notice that the Pack screen asks for a 'License plate or shipment'. The packer scans the LP label for the items, and the Pack screen will find the shipment it belongs to, and then the packing process will proceed as normal.

For shipments which are Picked but not Packed, you could look at Shipment status.

Waved means work has been created but not started.
Assuming your Container packing policy has the Container release policy field set to Make available at final shipping location, a Loaded shipment is one where all items have been packed into containers and the containers are Closed.
Meaning your In progress Shipments might be the one's you are interested in.

Or for another approach, at Warehouse management > Setup > Packing > Packing station setup, make sure you have Create packing work enabled for all your packing locations. Then, when you look at the Work details screen, you can see any Open or In progress work with Work order type = Sales order or Packing, and you can see the Shipment Ids.

And if you are looking around a packing area and you can see some unpacked License plates, you can filter the Work details screen by Target license plate Id to see which Shipment the License plate belongs to.

    Thanks Zain for your answer.
    So much paper then!

Would you by chance have an example of such customization?
We don't have printers on our scanners but maybe we could consider that in the future aswell.

Last question, I don't see a "picked" status, it jumps from "In process" (picking has started) to "loaded" (packing is done).
Do you have that on your side?
Very many thanks for your feedback

    Hi,

Many use the picking list just to get the shipment number.

To find shipments picked but not packed, go to Warehouse management > Shipments > All shipments, and filter by Shipment status = Picked.

For a cleaner process, consider customizing the mobile app to show or print the shipment number after picking, so printing the list isn’t necessary.
