If you have not enough number of User license, you must get User license by MS or MS partners.

Thanks for your reply. But unfortunately I’m struggling to find a Microsoft Partner that will provide a Dynamics AX2009 licence. Do you have any contact details for a Microsoft Partner that would supply the licence?

Hi Vijay,
It is not possible anymore to get new AX 2009 licenses. Only existing licenses can be expanded with modules and concurrent users.
Microsoft is only selling AX 2012 and the new Microsoft Dynamics AX licenses.
What is the background why you need this license?

A part of the business has been sold, therefore the part of the business that hasn’t been sold is still using Dynamics AX 2009. The sold section of the business have migrated there data onto SAP, however we still need to be able to view historical data in Dynamics. Therefore the sole purpose of purchasing a Dynamics AX 2009 license is for read only viewing of historical data.

I do understand. Probably you can talk to a partner to have an additional conversation with Microsoft. Probably Microsoft would be able to make an exception. I know about a partner that talked with Microsoft to continue sales on AX2009 licenses because of their add-on which was not upgraded when the sales option for AX2009 was retired.

Price list is only available for AX 2012. MS will not sell any New licenses for AX 2009, however the mainstream support is available till 2018. Suggest you to reach out to MS Dynamics Partner and get quote/buy additional licenses. For more details you can also write to MS licensing itmbssup@microsoft.com.
in the past days ax2009 license was available in the MSDN technet, does anybody remember . . .

Yes, I do remember. Old days... The licenses did expire every year. There aren't any recent license files available for AX2009. As a partner or customer you might have access to valid licenses.
