    Hi Abi

In this post I have tried to explain the detail behind qty on hand, qty on order, qty available and allocated. It is quite a complicated post but should help answer your question.

The products don't get automatically added to the work order in the way your imagine. But what does happen is that when we receive the stock from the purchase order it can be assigned to that work order. The reason for doing this is that it will then show in the allocated column, meaning (hopefully) the stock wouldn't be taken for another purpose. As the qty available field will not increase if the stock is allocated.

    Hopefully this helps.

    Neil.

    Thanks nithya,

I need more explanation in this,

"If you link the P. O. to a work order, then when you receive the product it will be added directly to the work order as a work order product."

what u mean by work order product?

    Hi Abi Rami,

A work order has information on what work needs to be done. It is used to coordinate and schedule resources and activities. It can be used for different types of work, such as installations, repairs, or preventative maintenance.

A purchase order (P.O.) is created to add inventory to a warehouse, or to purchase products to sell to a customer in a work order.

If you link the P. O. to a work order, then when you receive the product it will be added directly to the work order as a work order product.
