Hi All,

We are using GP through remote app and problem we have is the default printer is not getting saved, so each time user has to change the printer setup on GP after login.  Is there any way to handle this.

    Hi David,

That's a great idea, I will try the same.  Please let me know how can I include the dex.ini on each user login script.

Yes Soma its RD connection but the problem is the printer wont stay as default for each user, yes I can change the printer each time on GP but the output size changed depending on which printer is getting defaulted.

Exactly David!  Those are 3 solid things one can do to make sure that the users GP experience on a remote machine is a good one.  By any chance, can you provide a sample of the login script you use to specify the user's dex.ini?

I have been using GP on remote app successfully for years. What I found works best ( for me ) is a combination of things:

1- Use a separate dex.ini for each user. This can be specified in your login script.

2- Be sure that the exact same print driver is installed on the terminal server and the client.

3- When setting up the the new connection, log in to the terminal server desktop for each user and set their printer as the default printer.

It's definitely worth the effort to get GP running as a remote app instead of fat client!

Are you using Remote Desktop connection or Citrix connection?

If you are using RD connection, then check the below settings while connecting to GP server.

Also check the Print Setup in GP(MS Dynamics GP-->Print Setup).

    Hope this helps!!!
