Create a Target when a Condition is Changed

We have added a Radio Button to CRM to identify whether an Account is a Target or not.  I know people can click the corresponding Targets Entity to see whether there's a Target Record, but we have 5,000+ Accounts in CRM, and only 1% of them would be Targets, so we don't want users having to check 99% of our Accounts' to see if they have a Target when they won't (hence our having the Radio Button).

However, we would like it that if someone selects the Radio Button and sets it to True, then a Target Entity is created.  However, I have 2 problems when I create the Workflow and set 'Record Fields Change' (Properties -> Target)

1) I don't want a Record created if the Radio Button is set to False

2) I want people to fill in some of the Fields themselves, as there will be variables that only the Record Creator would know, eg, how much is this Account being Targeted for, etc.

So, my questions are obviously . . .

1) Is it possible to create a Record *ONLY* when the Radio Button is set to True (by default, neither condition is selected)

2) Is it possible to create the Target Entity and leave it open on the screen for a User to complete?

Many thanks for any advice

Brian

    Hi Wolverine,

    1) Yes, you can use the check condition to make sure it is set to true.

    2) Users cannot interact with workflows--so if you want them to interact then you should create a Dialog.

Thank you for your fast reply.

Just to clarify, I can create a Dialog that will automatically pop up as soon as someone changes the Status of Target to True?  People will complete the Responses, and CRM will then create a New Target Entity, complete with the Responses the User completed?

So, I've created this Dialog, but I can't figure out how to get it to 'fire', ie, when a User changes the Status of the Target Radio Button, this will kick-in to action?

Can you help me any further?

    Many thanks if you can.

    Hi Wolverine,

Out-of-the-box, dialogs are designed to be iniated by the user through the dialog button on the ribbon.  However, you could write some javascript to fire the dialog on the form.  Here is a blog that shows some sample javascript for launching a dialog via a button, which could be modified to fire on the form.

Thanks, but I've never written JavaScript, so that's way beyond my capabilities.  I wonder whether there's an existing script that checks a Condition and then begins a Dialog?  I imagine I'm not the only person to ever want a Dialog to begin after an Event?  Would I be better trying the PowerObjects forum or here, in your opinion?

Many thanks for all your guidance so far.

    Have a good weekend.

    Hi Brian,

    I'm not a coder myself--wish I could help!!  :-)

if you can't find the sample code on the web and modify it, then you definitely  use consulting services from a partner like PowerObjects to have the code developed for you.

    Hope this helps!
