How do I do an aging report for a specific GL account?

Hello,

We keep track of our account receivable on two different GL accounts. When we do a historically aged trial balance on the sales side, it bundles everything together. Is there an aging report that will tell us which open invoices was added to which GL account?

We keep track of our AR in 3 different GL accounts.  We set the posting accounts up to key off of the Customer Class ID field.  When we  prepare the Receivables Trial Balance Report we set up options that select ranges for Class ID, selecting those IDs we group to a GL account number.

Just remember to set up the Class IDs so if you want to group more than 1 to an account, you can also select the Class ID names from/to in sequence.  Then you can use the existing Historical Aged Trial Balance without modification.  You still have the options to select them in SmartLists and combine any way you want.  We have not found a need for a custom report, and still get aging schedules that match our multiple GL accounts receivable accounts.

    Hello M Erva,

As the ATB/HATB reports in Dynamics GP are created from transaction records (and not distribution) there wouldn't be a method to create the reporting per account in the program.  About the closest default option available in this direction would be the Reconcile to GL reporting in which the GL side is created for specific account postings per period.  However, the RM side will pull up any distribution record that was posted as a sales distribution type, regardless of the associated account.

    Best Regards,

    Jeff

You might have to use SSRS for this.

In the SSRS reports bundled with GP, there is the RM HATB report. You could potentially add a grouping or a parameter that would look at both of your AR accounts and let the user select one or both?

Am just thinking out loud here, maybe that is an option for you?

Otherwise, it would have to be some kind of customization of the RM HATB Report Writer report.
