Hi All,
We had a client currently is using Call Center Order functionality. With the new licensing, the customer supposed to buy the Retail license user, however since they are using Call Center order (Sales order form) there is possibility some function is cross over to Supply Chain. Is there any tools in the system allow us to identify what privilege is related to what type of license?
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks.
Regards,
Teh
Yes, Teh.
That is correct.
Hi EeWee,
Based on your reply, I supposed there is no way in the front end that allow us to generate and find the relevant license that required right? We still have to got into AOT to find out 1 by 1 correct?
Thanks.
Regards,
Teh
Hi Teh,
Let me show you a way to show you the details if that is what you are looking for.
Remember in my previous post I had shared with you that the Call center features can be found under Retail configuration keys. We will use Call center as example.
==========
STEPS
==========
1. Login to your Development box.
2. Launch Visual Studio with elevated privilege.
3. Click menu 'View > Application Explorer'.
4. Expand 'AOT> Configuration > Configuration Key'.
5. Search for MCRCallCenter configuration key, right-click and select 'Find reference' and you will find all the privileges for it.
6. So in this case, the Retail App license will be sufficient for you to perform all the Call center related operations (includes all the menus you found in the form)
7. You can perform the same if you wanted to know about inventory on hand (RetailInvent) or any others that interest you.
Hope this help.
Hi EeWee,
I think you still not getting my questions. I understand the licensing model and the license configuration.
But my questions is, in the Sales Order form, there is so many menu, how we know which menu require Supply Chain only or Supply Chain + Retail Attached license? E.g. a call center user entering SO, we know is Retail license, however the user also want to check Inventory On Hand. In this scenario, is the Retail License is sufficient?
As you can see, there is so many menu on the top, how we know whether is Retail license is sufficient? If call center user convert to invoice, is finance license required as well?
Another example, call center order with product configuration. What license type required? Supply Chain or Supply Chain + Retail?
Thanks.
Regards,
Teh
Hi Teh,
Under the new pricing and licensing for Microsoft Dynamics 365, you will now only require one Retail license for Call center. For example, you can find the Call center feature is already included in it under the License configuration in the Dynamics 365 Commerce demo environment:
I would suggest you to refer to https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=866544 to download the latest version of our Microsoft Dynamics 365 Licensing Guide April 2020 to have a better understanding of the new licensing model.
Hope this help.

Hi EeWee,
After download and checking the file, I still can't figure how to identify that.
For example, in Call Center Sales Order, there are so many button/menu on the Sales Order form itself. If user need to query the On Hand quantity from the Sales Order form, what kind of license required? Is it just retail only? or retail + supply chain?
Another example, we know POS machine allow to create transfer order, I supposed this will be under Retail license. But if my customer is using Call Center Order, but they also need to issue transfer order and they are not using POS machine, then what kind of license is required?
Thanks.

Hi Teh,
You may refer to https://mbs.microsoft.com/customersource/northamerica/AX/downloads/reports/axtechrefrep and Download Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations version 10.0 technical reports
The reports included in the download are:
Aggregate data entities
Aggregate measures
Configuration key groups
Configuration keys
Data entities
Data entity fields
Key performance indicators (KPIs)
License codes
Menu items
SQL Server Reporting Services reports

This should help you to identify which privilege is related to what type of license.
