Allow Email entity in the "Regarding" lookup of an Activity form.

Posted on by 1,654

Hello,

Could anyone please let me know how we can enable the "Email" entity for the "Regarding" lookup of an Activity form?

I have created a custom Activity entity in the CRM.

One of my clients wants to set the "Regarding" field of the Activity form as the "Email" entity record.

I have created a JavaScript that will set the "Regarding" field of the custom Activity entity as the "Email" entity record. But, on save, I get the attached error.

I checked the other Activity entities as well. Say, for example, The "Regarding" field of the "Task" form also does not support the "Email" entity.

    Hi Inkey,

    Agree with ba365guy.

The entities in the "Regarding" lookup field all have a 1: N relationship with the Activity entity.

By looking at the relationship list of the Activity entity, we can find that there is no entity of the activity type has a 1: N relationship between the Activity entity.

So all activity type entities cannot be filled to the "Regarding" lookup of an Activity form.

To achieve this, you need to create a new N: 1 relationship for a specific activity type.

For example, create a N: 1 relationship between the Appointment entity and the Email entity. In this way, we can fill the Email record in the new lookup field on the Appointment form.

Note, however, that a N: 1 relationship must be created between a specific activity type entity and a specific activity type entity, that is, multiple new lookup fields on a form will correspond to multiple activity types.

You can't set the 'regarding' field to an activity entity (e.g. phonecall). If you want to link one activity to another, then you could create an additional relationship for this.
