How to build and consume entities

Hi,

I'm new to D365, what I understood from the integration docs are the OData endpoints and its entities. So I'm able to interact with the entities available in the OData, but some entities are not public.

In the Build and consume data entities documentation I have seen how to create custom entities and make them public.

I have Visual Studio (19, 17 and 15) but the Finance and Operations Project is not available there.

I have read that developer tools need to install for that, but I'm not able to find any links for how to download and install developer tools.

So how do I install VS D365 developer tools?

How do I connect to my D365 environment from VS? and once the entities are created how to deploy that? these are not mentioned in the documentation.

I have a D365 F&O trial account.

    You can't install developer tools, instead you must use a preconfigured VM from Microsoft.  This VM contains Visual Studio with the developer tools, and a fully functional D365FO instance.

    You can download a VHD, or deploy it to Azure from Lifecycle Services.

    The dev VM is not available with the free trial (https://trials.dynamics.com), it's only available with Partner / Customer trial.

    There are two ways to deploy and develop in D365.

    1. Cloud environment that is provisioned through LCS

    2. VM(from Shared Asset Library on LCS) that is running on-premises
