Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 with MS teams

Background: My organization is currently using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 and Exchange 2013 for Email services . All vendors details are in Dynamic's SQL Database

As part of O365 adoption all services is getting moved to Office 365,MS Teams with Onprem PBX solution.

Requirement:- Once Onprem Dynamic users (Logistics Team) login to Axapta (Dymanics AX) and search for a vendor and click on the vendor contact number, Be default it should select MS Teams and initiate the call .

How this can achieved

AX 2012 does have support for this kind of things, although I don't know if Teams is supported OOB.

Check out Integrating Microsoft Lync to Microsoft Dynamics AX to get some idea about the feature in general.

Hi Vigy,

Is the requirement to only lookup vendor details and present results in Teams or do you need to open Dynamics AX, automatically open the vendor details for the vendor selected in Teams?

PS. What is the abbreviation PBX?

Hi Andre,

All Partner Details should be replicated in Teams with their Name & Contact details.

They prefer to check MS Teams for vendors than opening Dyamics and searching for user.

PBX is nothing much Phone calling facilities (Voice Call, Direct cal, Hardphones)

Some more details are below

Background: Customer is currently using Axapta (ERP Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012) and all vendor & partner details are stored in Axapta ( Backend is SQL Database). The Data is classified, and as per permission based on user department respective Vendor will be visible ( eg: Logistics team can view only Logistics partner details and cant see Sales partner details.)

Currently Users logs in to Axapta search for vendor details and manually dial the number from existing Hard Phones

Requirement:- Users should be able to see All vendors details ( Name, Contact & Email address ) as contact in their MS Teams , so that logging in to Axapta for fetching contact details can be eliminated.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for sharing the details on Lync. But the details shows about integrating users who are in AD & Dynamics (Internal). Will the same Lync integration work if Dynamics has External users ( Partners, Vendors etc) and their details are not available in AD.

Hi Vigy,

It is possible to open the Dynamics AX client with a drill-down instruction. This is a feature from the alerts with a link in an email. You can check if it would be possible to use the same technology for your Teams integration: docs.microsoft.com/.../about-drilling-down-from-an-alert-email-message

Vigy, it's quite a few years ago when I worked with this feature for the last time, therefore I', not completely sure.

But I think you'll get the option to make a call or send an email, but not to see the presence. Also note that the integration with Teams (if there is any) may work differently than the integration with Lync.
