When doing a Physical Inventory only counted items are updates. Why?

When doing a Physical and using the inventory wizard to import a CSV file there are only two options for items and quantities. Items have “Update matching items only and Update matching items and add new items.”  This creates a problem, if I miss counting an item or the item is not at the store it does not show up on my discrepancy report. For example, I have one lamp at the store and miss counting it in the inventory. The lamp will not show up on my discrepancy report and will stay in RMS as if I did count it in. This also creates a problem. If an item before doing the Physical shows a quantity in the store and the item is not in the store and is not counted when I update the inventory it will still show up in the store as if I did count it. Is there a way I can do more than just “Update matching items and add new items?” I want to update all items even if it wasn’t a matching quantity and see what we may have missed counting and what is not is actually in inventory.

    Hi Danny,

Currently there are only the two import options for the Inventory Wizard.

You may want to submit a product suggestion at the link below.

I agree Danny, It would seem a given as an option. I would think a work around might be to create a item list with  all zero quantity and import it.  Then come import the actual inventory that was cou nted.  This might create the whole store count scenerio.  Im thinking out load I havent tried this but we are getting ready to start our end of the year and I am thinking of trying it.  Anyone have an opinion of why this might not work?
