Missing Fields Under GP 9 Cards - Customer

Posted on by 205

I have 2 uesrs one of which can see under the section found at cards/sales/customer three fields (in red) -

Location

Labor Rate Group and

Price Matrix

The second person can't see these fields - I assume this is a roles or permissions issue but I don't know where I should be comparing the 2 user accounts.  Thanks is advance.

Apparently spoke to soon - did not work - I also modified some fields under customer prospects and customer classes to no effect.  Looks like I will need to open a case - thank you for your time - I will post any resolution found.

I think you may have hit it on the head under advanced security - the 3rd party product that was highlighted was WennSoft and I added the user - will have him verify it.  I did not see a field level security - when I clicked on security it warned that advanced security was already in use so I left it as is.

I think the answer may be a combination of Richard's answer and security.  If your 3rd party products (or customizations) replace GP windows with alternate or modified windows, you need to specify what window the users have access to - original or extra crispy (I mean alternate/modified).

To do this in GP 9.0, open Advanced Security (Tools > Setup > System > Advanced Security), change the view (top left drop-down) to 'by Alternate, Modified and Custom'.  For alternate windows expand the selection for your 3rd party product (or customization), expand Forms, Sales, Customer Maintenance.  (Modified windows will be under the Microsoft Dynamics GP section, then Forms >  Sales . Customer Maintenance.)  You should see two radio buttons: Microsoft Dynamics GP and your 3rd party product (or customization).  Select the user and company combination on the right side to see who has access to which one.

Not the case - the other person remotely accessed the user's machine and logged into GP and the fields were there - also on the Terminal Server the GP fields are there again depending on the user account you are logged on GP as.  Thank you for your thoughts.

No, it sounds more like two have a third party product that is not installed on the other person's machine.  Labor Rate Group and Price Matrix are the keys, they are not standard GP fields.

Get together with your partner and make sure the third party product is on all machines.  You can control access to it through security.  Go into admin->advanced security (assuming you have rights to that) or call your partner.
