Hi,
I'm currently evaluating the Hololens 2 for use by our field crews in troubleshooting equipment and making repairs. When working with complex electrical panels/components, the 3D ink annotations (pen and arrows) drawn on small wires, buttons, etc. by an MS Teams desktop user are not nearly accurate enough to point the Hololens 2 users to the exact component.
From there, we looked at having the MS Teams user take a snapshot of the video (within D365 Remote Assist), share it with the Hololens 2 user, and mark it up with 2D annotations. However, according to this page (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/mixed-reality/remote-assist/teams-pc-all), that feature is not available for the above use case (MS Teams Desktop -> Hololens 2).
One workaround we found--The MS Teams user can use another application to take a screenshot, share the screen containing the screenshot, and use the other application to mark it up. While this gets the job done, it results in more steps required by the MS Teams user and more time to constantly take screenshots as components are removed and the situation progresses.
It would also be useful for the MS Teams user to have the ability to control the zoom level of the Hololens 2 camera or at least enlarge the video for the screenshots.
Any chance these items are on the development roadmap and something we could expect in the near future?
