Publishing changes slow using Data Connector and Excel Ad-in up to an hour

I use Excel connected to Dynamics 365 to make bulk edits to our product reference data in Dynamics, for example, price changes, or description changes. The Data Connector times out after an hour and during that time only approximately 1000 changes are processed. If my table has more edits than that I reload and try again and the next 1000 changes get processed, and so on. This is extremely tedious and I know it is not normal. We have a sister company that also uses Dynamics 365, with an almost identical set-up, and it only takes me a few minutes to publish 1000's of changes in that system. Our developer has not yet managed to identify the cause of the problem. I would be very grateful for a troubleshooting checklist for potential causes of this slowness.

    Hi Partner,

Can you tell me what app you are using in D365?

    Hi,

I would ask you to check below components for your troubleshooting

    1. Check Sync plugins running for the entity which you are updating from excel

    2. Check Real time workflow and any custom workflow code

Try to disable custom plugins oneb by one to check what plugin is causing this issue.

Please mark my answer verified if this is helpful!

    Dear Bipin,

thank you for your suggestions. I shall pass on that information to our developer.

I have had a quick look myself and from what I can see in the Synchronisation Log all is OK, sync jobs are 40-800ms. We don't intentionally use any automated workflows. I've deleted the few that have been generated in the Query Entries Log. Those queries were taking 1-5s. Deleting them hasn't made any improvement.

    Regards,

    Ingrid
