Is it possible to search/index the attachments of knowledge articles e.g. a pdf

Hi GrahamF,

This is feasible:

An attachment that includes the search term in its title or contents. The attachment title appears only when the search term matches the content in the attachment.

Please note: To search for knowledge article attachments in the website, for knowledge authors, you'll want to use the attachments function in the knowledge article editor instead of adding attachments in the notes section. If you've enabled Sync knowledge article attachments, knowledge article attachments will automatically be synced to the notes attachment.
