Offline Sync Service is using high CPU at a regular interval of 10 seconds.

hi 

We have a client and they have two pos terminals and both have offline databases are enabled.

These both terminals have very high cpu usage at every 10 seconds.

no errors in offline sync service logs. everything else seems to be normal.

Has anybody come across this?

Version details

Microsoft.Dynamics.Retail.Offline.Service.exe

Version : 6.3.3000.111

AX POS 2012 R3 CU10.

    Thanks for your kind response.

    our client belongs to fast moving retail sector and there is a tremendous pressure on all the registers most of the time. it is not possible for us to configure offline db on selective registers.

    kindly suggest any alternative approach.

    Hi Qamar,

    I don't think it's possible in standard to configure what you describe. Offline sync services are independent - they do not know about each other.

    Probably you can configure services through Windows to start working in different periods of times, but it's not the best idea - every register expects having 'fresh and fully synchronized data' in offline database when switching to offline mode.

    Also you can offer Client to leave 4-5 Registers with offline databases configured and remove offline feature from other Registers  - as Offline mode is emergency usually, 4-5 Registers should be enough to fight with emergency.

    I have same Problem and also using CU10 Microsoft Dynamics AX Offline Sync Service use full  Processor.

    I have once Chanel Database and 25 Register with offline.

    I would like to know is it possible Microsoft Dynamics AX Offline Sync Service execute one by one register wise??

    That setting change definitely stopped cpu usage spiking.

    Hi,

    1) Setting SyncInParallel parameter in configuration file of Offline Sync service to False should decrease the usage of resources (picture below)  - in this case Offline Sync service will be synchronizing 'Offline scope' sequentially

    2) Change trace level to 'Verbose' in configuration file of Offline Sync service, restart it => make sure, log file appeared (if it didn't => service does not have enough permissions to create log file). Monitor what service does for 10-20 minutes - if data issue exists, you will see this in log file.

    We tried first 2 steps with no luck

    we have many other sites with same hard ware configuration without this issue.

    Its a bit tuff to guess.. In general, you can check below stuff.

    1. Restart POS terminal and check.

    2.Make sure POS terminal should be updated with latest windows updates.
