Expiration Date field on Item Ledger Entry

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Where does the text/data for this field come from on the Item Ledger Entry list page?  We would like to use this field to track items that expire after

a few years.  We are using Dynamics NAV 2013 R1 with Serenic Navigator overlay and Datahaven document management inside NAV.

Thanks,

D. Danner

    Hi

Expiration Date Field in Item Ledger Entry Update Base on the Item Tracking Information when set Item Tracking Information in the Item Car As Lot Tracking then you can set how you need track this item while sales or purchase etc. once you enable this for Lot you can give Lot Number and Expiration Date that date will be capture on the item ledger entry.

ex. you are purchasing 10 items for that you can enter lot number as manufacture date and you can set expiration date of the product in the expiry date field in the Item Tracking one you posted the receipt it will show expiry date for item ledger entry Quantity

    Hello dgreene,

What you are looking its not cleared, whatever if you want to track then see the codeunit 6500 "Item Tracking Management",

There all code for tracking items, expiration date and so on...

There you can also add your custom code if you have any new requirement.

    Hi Danner,

Expiration Date field in Item ledger entry table contains the last date that the item on the line can be used. This field is mainly used for perishable items, such as produce, that will not be usable after a certain date.

    ***

The program copies this date from the Expiration Date field in the Tracking Specification table[336] during posting of the item journal.

    Hope it answers your question...

Actually, where do you enter the text for the expiration date field to get populated in the item ledger entry table?  Where does the text come from?  What document or setup?  Is this from the item tracking functionality?

    Thanks,

    D.Danner

    Hi Danner,
In all the versions of NAV, the Item Ledger Entry is linked with " Item ledger Entry" table...

Just go-to Development Environment and Run the Table Item Ledger Entry...
