Item Quantity Decimal Change Trouble

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

When trying to change the decimal on a certian item everything goes through fine, however it doesn't actually change it. This is a new item that I just put in yesterday, and I have since used it. However I need to change the quantity decimal and I can't seem to get it to work, no error messages or anything. I have succesfully changed a couple others today as well, also new items, it seems to only be this one item. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Taylor

    Taylor,

Are you talking about unit of measure decimals or cost decimals?  I am pretty sure that once you have any history on the item, you can no longer change the decimal qtys.  I know for a fact you cannot change cost decimals after there is history on an item.  If it is a new item with very few transactions, you could delete the transactions, change decimals, and then recreate the transactions.  There is also the option to remove history on an item, but you lose all the history (doubt you would want to do that).

    Hi,

If an item number is currently on any unposted transaction (SOP, POP, Inventory), then its decimal places won't be changed - for eithre currency or quantity. You would need to withre delete orpost the unposted transaction before you can change the decimals.

Search for an unposted transaction for this item. If you don't find one, post here again.

    Best regards,

That was my thought, the item is currently out of stock so all open invoices will be posted by tomorrow. I will give it another shot then! FWIW you can change the decimal on an item with a history. Thanks for all the help!
