Disable tracking token - disadvantages?

Hi,

If I enable tracking token it will be added to all outgoing emails in CRM. And we don't wan't that for all emails send from CRM. Therefore I disabled it, as I only wan't emails send from a specific entity (order) and a specific user to be tracked. And I only monitor that users email account for incoming emails.

However it seems like the tracking is working just fine for the emails we send from the order entity and a specific even with "use tracking token" disabled. But ex. from the emails we send from the order entity we add the order number in the subject. And maybe that's fine as a unique key to track replys to those messages?

This is our settings:

    Hi,

    As you have already noticed, even with the tracking token disabled, email tracking works fine but it may cause other things to fail. It is not recommended by Microsoft.

    Extract from this link: docs.microsoft.com/.../hh699705(v=crm.8)

    ===================

    Tracking tokens are the only supported correlation method that can be used when you use Dynamics 365 for Outlook connected to an SMTP server and send email to a non-Exchange recipient. In this situation, if tracking tokens are not enabled, then correlation events, such as the automatically creating records based on the regarding object, may not work.

    You can read more about tracking token with the following link-

    Hope this helps.

    Allright. And what if I add my own tracking token to the emails I wan't tracked? I can just have a workflow adding a string in the end of subject. Ex. Tracking: [Order number], and the order number is unique. This should be as good as the Microsoft one?

    Any comments on my above suggestion?

    Any comments to my original thread? Still looking for an answer if i can populate the tracking token field in the email or insert a unique token in the subject myself? Will this give the same result?
