Production Orders not releasing Purchase Orders

I recently created a new part number for a variation of an existing item. When I created a new BOM Version (for the finished good using the replacement (new) pn, the production order process no longer releases PO's when the Production order is "released". I cannot figure it out.

Hi,

Do you check if the subcontract item has been set up correctly in BOM tab of the production?

Does system throw any error?

No error was received but we have now figured out the issue. I had to go into the BOM and change the "type" from item to Vendor.
