CRM Plugin Versions Reverting to Older Versions

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello all,

This might seem a bit strange, but we have CRM 2016 environment, and on our production server, every morning, some of plugins are being reverted to older versions and that is creating problems for users. Has anybody ever had similar problems with plugins, and if yes, can it be fixed? Only thing that I have found is this blog post about IIS Ping settings, but this is connected to debugging and Visual Studio: https://community.dynamics.com/crm/b/pabloperalta/archive/2010/12/06/avoid-being-shutting-down-the-process-while-debugging-dynamics-crm-plugins .

Our programmers couldnt find the reason, why this could be happening.

Any help would be appreciated,

Rihards

    Hello,

Seems that we managed to resolve this issues with plugin. It was either the mode of the plugin, set from debbug to release, or version change from 1.0.0.0 to 1.0.0.1.

    Thank you all for suggestions,

    Hello,

We check TFS and there is nothing automated in deployment process, everythings done manually.

Also, wrote in MS Support forums, if resolution will be found, will let you know.

If somebody has some ideas, what can we search for to resolve this error, please let me know, all help will be appreciated.

    Hi,

are you saying that "modifiedon" was not re-set for today, but the plugins were still reverted back to the previous version this morning?

TFS etc.. Not on it's own - only if you have some kind of automated deployment process..

    Hello,

We checked this morning and there were no new data in modify or created collumns, all the info from yesterday. Maybe it could be that this plugins is in "debbug" version or TFS server could be doing something bad? Hardest thing about this is time frame when this happens, if we knew the time, we could check logs, tracing is turned on our production server.

    Hi,

I would assume there is something in your environment that's actually updating the plugins (some kind of deployment job or data base backup..), so I would start by using advanced find (with the plugin assemblies entity) to see "modified by"and "modified on" for those plugins.
