Hello Community,
Our main production line has about 10 work stations on it. Originally, we setup a single work center with 10 sequences, but found limitations in the BOM / Routing Link will not let us link the sequence to phantom components - only to the phantom top level. This is a big issue for us as the components for the phantom are generally delivered to 5 or 6 differenty stations as it moves down the line. Getting the right parts to the right station is a significant challenge for us. The next thing we tried was to setup each station as a work center and put the work center directly on the BOM. But even then, GP only looks at the phantom parent for the work center and ignores all the sites we added to the components. We need GP to look at the phantom components for the work center. Isn't that the whole reason for creating a phantom? Anyway, if anybody has any ideas to help us solve this problem, we are desperate for a solution. A typical BOM has 750 to 900 items on it and inventory is a significant part of the cost of our units.
Re-engineering our products to design by work center is not really an economically feasible option at this point as it would be cheaper for us to switch ERP systems to one that can handle this kind of setup. Please let me have any comments or suggestions you may have. Thanks.
