Hi,
Lets take a scenario where a technician who is working on a particular work order finds that he need a specific product to complete the work order. Now assume, he gets his product either from inventory or external vendor but the product received is faulty. So he decides to return this product.
At this point , RMA will come into picture which is to initiate return and some important information related to return would be captured such as whether the product was used in work order, whether it is taxable,is it exchange, repair or return. Also, the products which are supposed to be return would be added in RMA Products at this stage.
Now someone has to be made responsible for this return and should be allocated a date when the product would be taken by someone. This is captured in RMA Receipt along with the quantity.
After this RMA receipt is processed, the correct inventory or equipment adjustment is carried out.
If the product was ordered from external vendor and not from our inventory then we additionally create RTV(Return to Vendor) .
