Integration between Nav and Ax ?

Hello!

Anyone with experience in integrating Dynamics Nav to Dynamics Ax? I have a client asking for that solution since the production facilities and sales companies differ in size. Thus, Nav seems more suitable for the sales companies and Ax for the production companies. Is it easy integrating Ax to Nav or is it like integrating to a completely different product (non-microsoft) ?

Best Regards

Anna Grevsjö

    Hi Anna,

There is no out of the box connector for AX and NAV like there is for AX and CRM. You can integrate using services but this needs to be setup and probably customized. Probably more easy would be gathering all requirements of the sales company and see whether you need to make AX better fit also for the sales companies. Also note that using two products require two licenses.

Do you already know why they think NAV would be better for the sales companies? What are their findings?

"Integration" can mean almost anything; so it may be simple or complex depending on what you actually want.

It will likely be easier than integration with software that doesn't support Windows, Active Directory or so, but there is no magic to automatically "integrate" software solutions in the moment that Microsoft buys them (as happened with both Navision and Axapta).

In my opinion, you would need a much stronger argument for this investment. What do you miss in AX for sales companies?

Thanks for the quick reply! The client really like Nav, but I guess we should only offer Ax in the end.

    Hello,

    Thank you.

Actually we do not miss any function. The client however think Nav is more userfriendly. I guess we will offer Ax as a total package.

    Hi

Perhaps they've been put off by the power and flexibility of AX. With all the fields and buttons that are present on some forms, it can make AX look complicated to use. I would look hard at their processes and then spend a bit of time hiding the fields and functions that they won't use. Once you have a simplified form setup you will probably find that they'll love AX as much as we do.
