Is there a patch available to allow our software to be compatible with a EMV Chip reader?

No problem - it has been mixed with First Data - I've had several RMS users who have had to move to Card Defender or stand alone payment terminals over the last year. Seems like nearly all the processing companies are cracking down on using the native processing in RMS, POS 2007, POS 2009, and POS 2.0. Best advice is either a stand alone payment terminal or looking at a new POS system like Retail Management Hero or Cloud Retailer.
You may also want to review the POS 2009 life cycle information as it looks like all Microsoft support for POS 2009 ends in 2019. RITE will try and support as best we can but Microsoft will be ending all official support: community.dynamics.com/.../pos-2009-end-of-mainstream-support
Thanks, And thanks again for all your help, I was intouch with Gary Noble today. I know TSYS is terminating everyone soon, But what about First Data and RMS and Pos 2009 will they still continue for some time or are the turning off the pipes as well?
Hi Chris, Card Defender only works with the Microsoft Dynamics RMS/HQ, Retail Management Hero, and Cloud Retailer point of sale software programs. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thanks!
Kevin, You had mentioned Card Defender in a post, Will That work on POS 2009?
Thanks
Hi Chris - I will ask Gary in our office to get in touch with you. Thanks!
Thanks for your response, I looked at your site and would like to chat about some options. My email is cbostard@aol.com
Hi Chris, while not ideal due to possible entry errors, the quickest and least expensive option is to put in stand alone payment terminals. Otherwise, you are looking at needing to replace POS 2009 since TSYS is also turning off support for native processing in RMS as well.
I know this is an old thread, Will this work on Pos 2009? I am running into a problem where Credit card processor TSYS is no longer going to service the url transaction preset in the program, I am looking for solution fast
You can use an RMS plugin that supports EMV terminals. My company Velocity provides an RMS plugin that supports the Ingenico Telium terminals. These terminals process EMV transactions as well as use encryption to protect swiped data.

Thank you,
Ed
As the mainstream support for POS 2009 expired before the required EMV chip readers, there is no patch/update available for POS 2009, nor will we be testing any such card readers with POS 2009.
