Hi, i would create a web service method, passing the right parameters, and from there connecting to the SQL instance.
So, in a form, i would but a MVC page, or ASPX page or an HTML page to call that method and render the information like you need.
Do you want to have the page to be displayed inside CRM or outside CRM? And retrieve data from the SAP database?
To get from inside, I would suggest initially to create a HTML and JavaScript WebResource combo to retrieve the info from SQL server. You may need to create a Odata or Soap service to retrieve the data from SQL server to be consumed by the CRM JavaScript Resource:
msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg328025.aspx
the downside is a lot of code, but it will allow you to work on the contect of the CRM user that logs in.
Another option is creating a portal
msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg695814.aspx
the good side of portal is that you can use ASP.NET. the downside is that you will need to run in a separated IIS web site and it will connect to CRM impersonating 1 CRM user.
you can than expose the asp.net page though an IFRAME.
