Delete unused custom entity from managed solution

Hi there,

We have a number of custom entities that are not required anymore in our CRM.

We tried removing them from our DEV environment (unmanaged). Then we tried to delete them from our DEV environment.

Still, they are showing in our PROD environment when we import the updated managed solution.

Forgot to mention. Those entities are completley data free.

And they are Activity type Entities.

Is there any way to get completely rid of them? We are trying to keep both environment clean.

You still need to delete it manually in the production.

Unless your entity is inside the managed solution when you first time import and then you removed the managed solution (which it will delete as well the other components).

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks

Importing a managed solution does not remove anything from the target organisation. Also you can not remove an entity deployed as part of a managed solution.

I believe you will need to remove from the solution and deploy to production. (To remove it from the solution but not the organisation.) Then manually remove from production.

Alternatively you can remove the managed solution but that is quite drastic as it will remove all entities (and data) contained in the solution. So might not be your best approach!

    Hi yleclerc,

before you uninstall the managed solution , you need to make a solution  name it BackUp and add those entity which you required for future.

and then uninstall your managed solution your required entity will be safe in BackUP solution.

    Hello,

To do this properly, I suggest you to use Holding solution, this way you'll keep the data.

Here is a post for doing this (it's on CRM 2011 but still apply to CRM 2013, 2015 and online) : blogs.msdn.com/.../deleting-things-from-a-deployed-crm-2011-managed-solution-package.aspx

    Thank you Clément!

I was on a good roll until I ran into a problem when trying to delete my old managed solution. It seems there is a problem that can only be fixed accessing directly to the DB. And I can't at this time. community.dynamics.com/.../129374

Il semble que j'ai des problèmes plus importants maintenant!!
