recover item lost

Our system crashed during a sales transaction. The Credit card tender went through, but the receipt did not print. More importantly, the item can no longer be found in item list. Is there any way to recover this item?

Are you running HQ Manager and Store Operations Manager? If you are, and all items are on HQ, then run HQ Worksheet Style 250 for the missing item and download the item from HQ to the store.   This will update the Store database Item table with item attributes for the HQ Item ID.  It is unlikely that the item was deleted from the store database. Most likely, the ItemLookupCode was inadvertently changed on the store item table to spaces or some other set of characters for the item you seem to have 'lost'.

It may as well be that the database is full and caused the crush. In which case you need to delete some entries from journal. You need to use the Administrator to check and delete.

Also the item may be ticked inactive. This can be seen with Manager. Do a report like item value list and in filter remove Inactive yes. generate and check for your item.
