Difference between a Role and a Position

(0) ShareShare

Project roles are created in Project accounting and management modules. And cost and sales prices can also be setup against them. But are these roles assigned to employees / workers and if yes where?

Also what is the difference between the Role and a Position?

    Hi Sarang Kusare,

The project roles are assigned to your project resources (=> Project module / Project resources / resources list)

There you can link your resources, which are all of your employees that have a resource scheduling calendar setup in the HR module under the project setup tab.

The project roles are different from the security roles that you assign your users to.

    Hope this answers your questions.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

Thanks for the answer. And now i know the navigation for assigning the project role to employees.

I know that project roles and resource roles are different.

But what is the difference between and significance of Resource role and Position??

    Thanks

    Kind Regards

    Sarang

    Hi Sarang,

Well, without a project resource role you can't make use of the scheduling functionalities.

Positions are used for other purposes in HR and are not directly required for projects.

Not sure if I got your question about the significance right. Maybe you can elaborate on what exactly you are looking for.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
