Inventory Item List - editing

Hi

New to Business Central, so I may be missing something simple here.

Is there any way to edit the Items in List mode in the same way as you can do GL Accounts?

I have uploaded my base inventory items, but there doesn't seem to be a way using the Data Import or by editing the list in Excel afterwards to define the Type (Inventory, Service, Non-inventory).  That seems quite an oversight.  I would want to have to update all the items one by one to change.

Cheers

Heather

There is no way of doing that because the Item List editable is set to No.

There are two ways to update in batch :

    1) Configuration Package

    2) Use Edit in Excel, modify in Excel, and Publish it back. You will need Excel integration for this.

That particular column does not exist in the Edit in Excel spreadsheet that is created.  Can you elaborate on what a Configuration Package is?

Configuration Package is basically used to upload directly to the table with or without validation.

It is a bit of a risk to give normal user access to this, so an admin needs to do it.

    Hi

Thanks for the suggestions on this one.  I have now based on those checked out configuration packages and worksheets and was able to achieve what I wanted to do with Inventory.

    Thanks

    Heather
