Document D365 Configurations

Can you please guide what is Microsoft's recommended (and effecient) way of documenting the D365 applicaiton configurations (setups of Gl, AP, AR etc.). Is there a template which we can use or is it possible to extract all setup/configurations and save them as MS Excel file?
