How to add Warranty period and serial number when inventory arrives

Hello, 

I am new to Business Central. 

I am trying to set up a flow where my hardware can be recorded during Goods Receipt and while adding the inventory I can add warranty period, Serial number of the hardware. How do i do this?

Do I use an Item card for it?

    Hi,

    Your hardware  can be your Fixed asset to records in the system. so you should follow the Fixed asset card for it, it also covers the Warranty period also.

    if the item you try to manage is not a fixed asset, you can set it up to be tracked by serial number. you can find the details here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/inventory-how-work-item-tracking

    once you create the item serial number, any needed information can be added to "Serial No. Information (6504)" :https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365-release-plan/2021wave1/smb/dynamics365-business-central/automatic-creation-lot-serial-no-information-cards
