new CRM button in outlook

Posted on by 386

Hi

There is an issue I have with adding a new button in CRM and display it from Outlook (the other OOB buttons are enabled).

I see the button in outlook and I added it to the outlook ribbon, but it is disable. The button is ok in CRM, it has one action URL to open CRM page in new window.

For button command, I add both rules:

- Enable Rule -> CrmClientTypeRule (should this be true for Outlook)?

- Display Rule -> CrmClientTypeRule (should this be true for Outlook)?

Thank you

    RE: new CRM button in outlook

    Hi Nick

    Thank you for reply, I am using Ribbon Workbench and did the following actions:

    - add a new button

    - add a command to Open URL and provide URL

    - add 2 enable rules for Outlook and Web

    - add 2 display rules similar as above for Outlook and Web

    I add the button on the ribbon and it is disable ('Button').

    Also after I closed the Outlook, the button disappeared (I had to add it again on the ribbon)

    I had a similar battle recently.  If you are not already using it, I would suggest you use the "Ribbon Workbench 2016" in the XrmToolBox.

    Here is a screenshot of my settings for the enable rule (display rule is the same) to get the button to work in CRM for Outlook.

    Add an "OrEnableRule",

    CrmClientTypeRule -> Type: Web

    Or

    CrmClientTypeRule -> Type: Outlook

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers

    Nick
