URL Redirect Mapping - Site Builder (Product URLs)

Hello,

I am looking for some guidance/clarification on the URL redirect mapping feature within Site Builder. Our customer has a handful of pages, and they want to ensure their customers landing on previous URLs will be directed to the new pages in Dynamics 365 Commerce. Our main concern is in relation to product URLs. The customer has thousands of products, and their current URLs are manually authored with the product name at the end of the URL (ex. www,somesite,com/products/productname).

My question is, how are product URLs handled in Dynamics?

How can we know the product URLs that we need to redirect to?

Is there a way to manually author product URLs in bulk for the products displayed on Site Builder?

Thank you for your time.

I have the same question (0)

    HI,

Please take a look at this - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/commerce/upload-bulk-redirects

    Hi Jeevan,

    Thanks for the reply.

I've read this documentation thoroughly, but it seemed more generalized in the information it contained. I'm looking for specific answers as it relates to product URLs. This is for bulk redirects, which will work well for marketing and category pages, which I understand fully. The grey area for me is products, both bulk redirects to product URLs (and where we find individual product URLs) as well as whether or not there is a way to bulk manually author Dynamics product URLs.

    Thanks.

    The products URL is constructed as https://{domain} / {site} / {item name } / {recordid}.p

So URL for a test item will be will be www.site.com/.../12345679.p

If your existing URL was https://www.site.com/my-test-item.aspx your new URL would be www.site.com/.../12345679.p where 12345679 is your recordid from HQ.

You can use the above format to construct your import template and apply it for all your products.

Great, thank you so much. This is the information I was looking for.

One more quick question. Let's say I don't want to use the record ID as the product URL, but the product name. As far as I'm aware, aside from enriching individual product pages one by one and defining manually authored URLs one by one, is there any other way to set those URLs en masse for products?

To my knowledge URL rewrites (changing .p to non p versions of URL etc) cannot be created in mass. The only way I can think it might work is if you are able to intercept the routing mechanism in the react app and allow your request to consume the non .p version of the URLs and render the actual product pages via some extension.
