Item Stock Inquiry Beginning Balances

I was looking at the Item Stock Inquiry screen for a client and immediately noticed something that made no sense. Instead of seeing something like below I would see and increase adjustment of 100 but the balance was (25,000). So somehow the beginning balance had a value of minus 25,100. From where would that beginning balance value come?

There is a local field called tcsFLCU_QTY_OUT in the grid which is the balance. Can anyone tell me the equation for that field? It appears to be a running total but in the case of this client it is starting out with some unknown value.

Here is an example of what I mean. The results you see at the bottom are from the IV30300 table for this item. The QTY on the first line of the Item Stock Inquiry grid should read 610 pounds and I have no idea from where the value for balance comes. Since this is the first transaction it should also be 610 pounds.
