Global Batch job in AX 2012

Hi All,

I am using AX 2012 R3. My question is, can we run out of the box batch job as global. I means it should run for all the legal entities by one batch. I am not looking for any customization. If possible then how to configure it and will it work for all type of  batch. Please suggest.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Binita,

If a batch job designed to run globally you can run it globally, if not, you need to create separate batch jobs for each company.

    Hi Sergei,

    Hi Binita,

I guess the only way to know that is to check documentation for particular batch job or check x++ code. Most of batch jobs are company specific in AX and usually system batch jobs are global.

    Hi Sergei,

Is "E- mail distribution" and "Change base alert"  batches are system batch ? Will it work globaly. Any idea.

How to know about  system batch.

    Hi Binita,

Yes, these batch jobs are global. Maybe you just need to set up batch jobs you are interested in Test and test how job behaves. There is no clear answer for your question. You can guess what kind of data is used in batch job and decide based on this is it global other company specific. If batch job is related to sales order processing, most likely it's company specific as sales orders are stored per company. In case of "Change based alerts" EventCUD table is used and it's global. But there can be exceptions as well.

    Hi Binita,

Besides the mentioned ones above, other global batch jobs are in use:

    - Workflow related batch jobs

    - Automatic role assignment

    - User license miner

I'm not so sure that the Change based alerts job is global. The EventCUD table is global, but it has a CompanyId field. I'm sure I've seen one Change based alerts batch job per company in environments I've worked on in the past.
