Change tracking dimension group

Hello guys.

We need to change the tracking dimension group of a product. When I try to do this, AX shows the error as follow:

""The new dimension group cannot be assigned. Physical inventory transactions might exist and/or financial inventory transactions are not fully settled, while 'Activate closing of non-financial transfers' is set to Yes.""

There were transactions for this item, but I've reduced all it stock, then it doesn't have any quantity in stock. The only problem is The field inventTrans.valueOpen is filled with ""yes"" information, but I can't execute inventory closing before of begining of next monthy. I need to execute inventory closing only for this item.

How can I execute inventory closing for only this item?

Any help will be appreciate.

Richardson.

    Hi Richardson,

The recalculation can be started with a filter on items, but the closing not. You have to perform the closing to be able to change the tracking dimension group. Recalculation is not sufficient. So or you have to wait for month end, or see if you can run it earlier.

Another option would be creating a new item.

If we are using "Moving average" Inventory model, is it still possible to change the tracking dimension group?

    Hello Andre,

I have followed this guide to change the Tracking Dimension group for our items list. But some I could change, some couldn't.

    I tried as following steps:

    1. Close Inventory

    2. Create new Tracking Dimension group without check Financial Inventory

    3. there is blank Tracking Dimension group in the Product Number

When changed the Tracking Dimension group for some Item, I got following error mess:

The new dimension group cannot be assigned. Other financial dimensions apply, while 'Activate closing of non-financial transfers' is set to Yes, and inventory transactions exist.

Those are BOM item, there are existing BOM journals & Sales Orders (already invoiced).

Can you please let me know is there any way to change the Tracking Dimension group for those items?

    Thank you.

    Hi Hang,

I'm not able to find the exact root of this error message in my environment running on version 10.0.31. It might be replaced with a new error message. Anyway, check if the on-hand and all physical and financial values are zero before you perform the inventory closing.
