Hello

is it possible to have the planning worksheet consider the order multiple?

I have the reordering policy set to lot-for-lot.

the scenario is I have:
  • a sales order demand of 3300
  • order multiple is set to 3240
  • maximum order quantity is set to 3240
result
  • Planning worksheet result is 1x3240 and 1x60
Desired result
  • planning worksheet to show me 2x3240

kind regards

    Hello

For completeness.  Further testing and investigation is that order multiple is only functional when the Manufacturing Policy is set to Make-to-Stock.  I had this set to Make-to-Order.

the planning worksheet taking consideration on all supplies and demands within a certain timeframe. There might be supplies/demands affecting the planning result. I would suggest to remove the multiple and maximum parameter, then run it to see what the planning is like. Then add the parameter one at a time.

Thanks both for your time to respond.

    To confirm:
    • Not using stock keeping units
    • Not coming up and an emergency, we are using the maximum quantity to reduce the production order quantity due to associated risks for our particular industry.  I have set the date deliberately in the future to avoid any dates being an over-riding issue.
I am lost as to why Business Central fails to accommodate basic planning parameters.

In addition to what Ben mentioned, if you have stockkeeping units setup and you're making the changes mentioned on the item card rather than on the SKU card, then the system will ignore the item card parameters. So perhaps its this causing your issue.

First, do you have the "Respect Planning Parameters" toggle checked when you are running your Plan?

I think another possibility is a date issue.  The suggestion for 60 sounds like an emergency suggestion based on demand being in the past.

Finally, you don't need the Max Order Quantity of 3240 unless you are trying to restrict suggestions to 3240 per line.  This would be typical in a batch manufacturing environment where you want to split a large quantity across multiple lines or dates.

If everything goes correctly, I would expect you to get a suggestion of two lines each for 3240, based on your current settings.

Hopefully something here helps identify the issue.

    Best Regards,
