item revisions in Inventory / Purchasing / Manufacturing

Dear all,

Users asked for ways to see item revisions on PO/SO/MO:

For example, PO was placed and then item was revised (on Inventory Engineering tab) to new revision. As far as I can tell, receiving of that PO will not reflect that item ordered was of previous revision. Is that right? Is there a way to see that old revision. Same issue for Sales orders, Manufacturing orders. If we sold an item with old revision and item go updated, is there a way to see what revision was sold?

Is there other tools/fields/options that can be used for tracking purposes of item rev?

Thank you,

David

Thank you Beat for your help.

I was wondering if I can use Extender to a solve the issue... Any thoughts?

    Regards,

    David

    Hi David,

Sorry to disappoint you, but as far as I know, GP doesn't track the BOM version in the PO & SO modules. Not sure about the MfG module...

We solved the problem in a different twist in our company, since we rely heavily on the correct versions of the Inventory items. All our major components and FGoods are created with a 2 digits extension -xx to carry major version changes. We have some minor BOM changes with various releases in MfG or Eng BOM, but those are not affecting our PO/SO processes.  GP has some features to allow to set superseded product codes that are replaced by other products as alternative item, but you would need to look into the user guide or the context help to get more details about how to use it.
