I'm building a solution where I need to add a new fields to a contact record and amend a few option sets.

I also need to delete a field. Does this also work in a solution? If I delete a field from a contact record in a solution and then migrate this solution across to the live system will it remove that same field? Does the solution import process just replace the whole entity or does it look for differences between the entity in the live system and the incoming one in the solution?

Hi

It will not delete the component. You cannot use solution to delete components.

If you use managed solution you can delete the solution.

Hi jsteelecrm,

Which version of CRM you are using?

if you are using 2015 or erlier version:

If you want to delete any field in your Source & Target environments:

"Delete the field in the source system also delete same in the target system" Manually. if you delete it only in source system and import the solution into target environment, it will give you exception.
