Field Level Security shows error on quote revision

When using Field Level Security on a custom field within a quote, a user that does not have access to update the field cannot click the Revise button without getting a permission error since the quote revision copies the data from the original quote to the new revision. I have not found any workarounds for getting past this issue. Has anyone had to secure a field on a quote but allow a user that does not have update permissions to the field revise the quote? If so, how did you get around this issue?

    Hello Kim.

    You can create a plugin to revise the quote running in administrator's context. You must change the ribbon with you go this way.

    Hi Kim

    Did you ever find a solution to this?  Users in our system were able to revise quotes in 8.1 but as soon we upgraded to 8.2 they have started getting the error.  I'm reluctant to go down the plugin route as this is probably a bug.

    We have the same problem here, after updated to 365 - 8.2

    Making a plugin, for executing with impersonate, would solve, but for that, we overlap a native functionality, and we do not want to do that.

    Hi Maicon

    I opened a ticket with Microsoft about it. After hours spent on remote sessions and various emails with their support they finally agreed that it was a bug and was supposedly being fixed in a future release.  Alas, yesterday the ticket was assigned to somebody else so I am currently going through the whole investigation stage once again. I have asked twice now whether it was logged as a bug originally but have not managed to get a response. Extremely frustrating.

    I shall be sure to keep you posted if I hear anything.

    Sorry I missed the activity on this thread. Thank you for the update Luke. We also did not want to do any development work around this and ended up just turning off field level security and turning on auditing to track if anyone was approving things they should not. It has not been an issue but going forward it would be nice to have this working as expected.

    To keep you all posted my case has now been assigned to a third person on the Microsoft team who has requested yet another troubleshooting session.  This will be my fifth one.  I think they're trying to annoy me enough that I just close the ticket.  Hope the rest of you are having more success...

    The problem whas fixed on the buid 289, but, only for Dynamics 365 Online.

    I take it all back - the third representative I was assigned said it was fixed and my initial tests (CRM Online) suggest that this is indeed the case.  I completely missed it in the release notes.  I'm going to do some more tests this afternoon but looking good so far!
