How to tell what form a user is pointed to

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We have a form (Enter/Match Invoices) that was modified with Modifier.  Also a VBA script was created for this form.

We have a new user that doesn't get the modified form or the VBA code.  They do not have a dot in front of or after the window name.  I've replaced my GP2010 folder with this users GP2010 folder.  I get the modified form and VBA code.

My guess is that this user isn't pointing to this form.  Against our Test database, I have authority to go into the "Edit Launch File" window and see that I am pointing to this form.

Is there a way I can see what this user is pointing to on the "Edit Launch File" window?  How does an ADMIN open the Edit Launch File window for a user and see what they are pointing to?  I'm assuming the user never has authority to run the Edit Launch File window.  So how does an ADMIN see this for a user?

Thanks for your help.

    Hi Terry,

Access to modified forms in GP 2010 is controled by the Alternate/Modified Forms and Reports ID assigned to the user.  You can find out what ID is assigned to the user by looking under Tools -> Setup -> System -> User Security.   You then enter the UserID and Assigned Company and will see the Alternate/Modified Forms and Reports ID at the bottom.

After you know which Alternate/Modified Forms and Reports ID the user is using, you can find out which modified forms and reports they have access to by going to Tools -> Setup -> System -> Alternate/Modified Forms and Reports.   You then enter the ID, select Microsoft Dynamics GP as the product, and Windows as the type.  You will see a list of your modified forms by series and wheather the user is assiged to the default or modified version of the window.
