Default Dimensions on PO Line

Hi all,

I have 2 financial dimensions, Site and Cost Center, which I need to have default on all PO line.

On the vendor, we have set defaults for both.
On the item (released product), we have defaulted only the site.

When a PO is created, the PO Header pulling in the defaults from the vendor without issue. However, the lines are not inheriting the cost center from the Header or the Vendor.  We expected that since no default for Cost Center is set on the item, other sources for a default would be checked, such as the PO header and Vendor. Only if none of those had a default cost center defined did we expect it to remain blank on the PO line. We don't want to define a default cost center on the item, as it is used across many cost centers.

Is this behavior because we have a default Site dimension defined on the item? (Because one default dimension is populated, it's pulling from the Item and not searching further to fill the missing dimensions.)

What settings do we need to change so that the PO lines will inherit the default dimensions from the PO header?

Thanks,
Steve

    Hi.
Are you referring to dimension values from the header being replicated at the line level? If so, navigate to Procurement and sourcing > Setup > Procurement and sourcing parameters > General > Update order lines and verify if the dimension setting is configured to "Prompt."

Yes, that setting is currently set to "Prompt".

That also doesn't answer the original question of what order are default financial dimensions evaluated in?

I also don't think that prompts the user to override the line default financial dimension with the header value is created. I think that's more of a prompt to update lines if the header dimension is changed after the fact. We're trying to find a way to get the header dimensions to be the default on the lines as the lines are originally created.
