Inventory Cycle Count Report

ReportReport
Posted on by 415

We have recently decided to do inventory cycle counts rather than an annual inventory count. I need a report to list all part numbers stored in a particualr bin. I tried using th Physical Inventory Checklist, which is the exact format I need but I can not cutomize it to do what I want. Does anyone have any suggestions, what I'm looking for would look something like:

Bin A

123       SCREW   __________

456       SCREW   __________

Bin B

789       BOLT      __________

101       BOLT      __________

Thanks in advance for your help!

 Shellie

Well, my first suggestion would be to get Crystal Reports and save yourself the headache of trying to use Report Writer to customize reports.

You could also do a SmartList but it would look like this -

    Bin A     123     SCREW     __________

    Bin A     456     SCREW     __________

    Bin B     789     BOLT         __________

    Bin B     101     BOLT         __________

And you would need to dump it in to Excel to get your underlines.

    Hope this helps,

I haven't found a smart list that shows bin numbers, only sites.

    Shellie:

You can add the Bin Number to the Item Quantities SmartList by clicking on Columns>Add and select the Bin Number field from the columns list.

Frank~ Thanks for your help, I think this is going to work, I added the bin number column but it's not displaying any data? Any idea why that might happen?

Do you have multi-bin functionality registered and active?

I would assume so since we use multi-bin's but I'm not exactly sure of what that is.

We don't have the product ready quite yet, but we have a client with the exact same issue - but to take it a step further they want to be able to select a range of bins as well.

Our Data Collection product currently has picking, receiving and bin transfers but we are working on a physical inventory/cycle count component to it.

You can find us at www.salespad.net or contact me at stacyd@salespad.net for more information.

We also have a great order entry/order tracking solution.

I'm a newbie at GP and I'm trying to figure things out as I go along. I'm use to stock locations being a field that means "place" and a field that mean "sub place", if that makes any sense. Is that not standard here in GP. What's the definition of SITE? Is that user definable or does it really mean building / street address? Is there anything at a lower level than bin or do you have to define that within one field? I.E. 02-10-10-A, room 02, row 10, column 10, shelf A?

Site in our system is building/address, as we have only 1 location our is always the same. We do define our bins as B1-2-2 meaning Bin 1, Column 1, Row 1. There no other way to break that down to my knowledge. You can also track by lot numbers as several lot numbers may be in the same location.

Site in GP can refer to whatever you want it to - you can have an unlimited number of Sites.  Generally though, most companies make Site equivalent to a warehouse.  You can also have an unlimited number of Bins.  There is no location level lower than Bin, however.  You are correct in your assumption that if you have a 'sub-Bin', that will have to be designated in the Bin ID.

     Hope this helps,
