Getting Started...

I’ve been tasked to create a web service that will monitor record creation in a Dynamic GP Database. The technology proposed is MS GP (Great Plains). I’m very new to this technology and somewhere along the road in my research I’m missing information on getting started (I’m a well-seasoned C# WinForms Developer). I have downloaded and installed the MS Dynamics GP SDK, but when I create a web service in visual studio I see no references to any of the MS Dynamics libraries in Visual Studio… I could not find any examples online, where do I start?

I’m particularly interested in monitoring the event [Created] in the GP database.

Thank you Sandip, Web services are installed... looks like i'm missing "Web Services for Microsoft Visual Studio GP 2010 SDK". My CIO is working on obtaining this package now. I appreciate the guidence! Hopefully i'll have more detailed questions after i get these minor things ironed out.

    Donald,

Can you check : http://Yourmachine_name: port/DynamicsGPWebServices this webservice you can access it or not from your computer? or Server?

Replace machine_name with the name of the server onto which you installed

Web Services for Microsoft Dynamics GP. The port value is typically 48620.

    Thanks

    Sandip

    Hi Sandip,

I’m extremely new to this, could you please explain how I would know if it’s already installed? (The CIO isn’t present but since we run many services on our server I would imagine it is installed)

    Donald,

Did you installed Web Services in your server (Test Server)?  and then you can refer that in you C# application.

Here is link : msdn.microsoft.com/.../cc534132.aspx for web services. Download web service installation and administration guide from : www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx  (Check last option).

Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks

    Sandip
