Update field value from Account to Case

Hi experts,

In the account record I have a field with the following properties:

Name: new_alert

Display Name: Alert

Type: Multiple Lines of Text (2000)

Screen-Shot-2018_2D00_04_2D00_10-at-4.24.51-PM.png

In the case record, I have created the same type of field.

Now, whenever this field in the account record changes, I wanted the changes to reflected in the same field in the case record.

I am trying to do this through a workflow, however when I choose the update record option, it does not show "case". I also added relationship mapping in the oob 1:N relationship between account and contact.

How can I accomplish this?

Thanks,

Jon

    Hi Jon,

Use Quick view form if its only display purpose as suggested by Arpit and Alex , which will reduce your  effort.

If you are using same field in case entity for another purpose lets say view or any other,  I  would recommend to use plugin to update  account related  case record.

    Hi Jon,

what do you want to do with this alert field?

    1. If this is for display purpose.

    - use quick view form.

    2. if you need to do something with this field

    - create a plugin / custom workflow.

    Hi Jon,

Microsoft CRM has provided us provision of Quick View Form in order to achieve such type of requirements. By doing this, we can avoid keeping a separate field on child entity and map/update the parent data by writing the plugin/javascript code.
