Hi All,
i have a question about enabling audit for a field, i am trying to check the audit history for a specific field, but it doesnt show the data from the first creation of the record.
i am not sure if i enabled the audit after or not..
could you please let me know if the audit history gets cleared after a period of time or not ?
and in some records i found this message : Auditing was disabled on EntityName by User on 1/22/2015 1:22, but i haven't stopped the entity auditing..
please help
thanks

Hi Nicolai, we're experiencing the same issue - did you ever get to the bottom of this? Thanks, Chris
I'm seeing the same again and again here - my feeling is it happens both when I add a new field (audited) to the entity - and when I import an (unmanaged) solution - even when the solution also specifies this entity is audited.
Really annoying since this renders audit history pretty much useless for my users. I had hoped it would be solved int he latest UR but no such luck (I'm on CRM 2013 SP1).
Does anyone have some insight in to why this happens? Or how I report this to the CRM team @ Microsoft?
Br Nicolai
Hi AlaaMoh,
Mithilesh has provided you correct set of steps, thats how Audit trail works.
But since you are saying you have not unchecked; what probably you can do is, try it once more: as in follow all steps as given in Mithilesh's post and see if the checkmark is unchecked automatically or it works fine. That is the only way we can check it.
its is (Auditing was disabled )
but i am sure that i havent checked it.
Hi AlaaMoh,
What does the Audit say "Entity Audit Stopped" or "Audit Disabled"?
If it is the first one it may happen if you accidently uncheck the Entity Auditing from Entity Settings window.
Second one is generally for Organization Level, which I doubt can happen accidentally, because you need to go to System Settings
Hope that helps
Thanks

thanks for the answer Mithilesh
but i didnt disable the audit, but i can see that it got disabled by me.
could it be because am the developer and publishing new changes ?
Hi AlaaMoh,
To answer your question
1. There are three steps to configure Auditing
For field level auditing to work, you need to have Organization and Entity Level Auditing enabled.
Since you are saying that you cannot see the record, high chances are that you may have enabled the Auditing for Field and Entity by may have not done Organization wide (or vice versa).
Once the Auditing is enabled it will also log in when it was disabled and started again
It will also log in if you do an Organization or Entity level
2. Audit data is divided into audit logs for each quarter of the calendar year. These audit logs can be viewed in Settings > Auditing > Audit Log Management. Audit logs can be deleted one at a time by users who have the Delete Audit Partitions privilege enabled in their roles
Hope that helps
