Using eConnect to receive data from Microsoft GP

Hello Team,

I am going to use eConnect to integrate data with Microsoft GP.
I got acquainted with the specification eConnectProgrammersGuide.pdf, but I have some questions.

1. Should the Customer open access to the database so that to apply synchronization via eConnect?

2. How to comply with the security during using eConnect, because it is direct access to the database?

3. Perhaps there are some other features of using eConnect?

4. How did you solve the situation when the Customer didn't want to open access to the database to use eConnect?

With eConnect, it is usually the eConnect service account that is needing the access to SQL server and GP databases.

In the eConnect install guide, it states that the eConnect service uses SQL Server Integrated security to connect to the eConnect business objects.

When you installed eConnect, you specify a service user account, that is usually a domain account.

This account needs to have the DYNGRP database role assigned to it for the GP system and all company databases being used with eConnect.

This gives the service account the SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE and INSERT permissions on tables and views, as well as EXECUTE permissions on stored procedures, as eConnect is primarily using stored procedures in its processing.
