DOCDATE field?

In GL20000 and GL30000, there is a DOCDATE field.  But, when I use it, all I get is 1900-01-01

What is this date really supposed to be?

I'm getting all the other info correct (ie, TRXDATE, ORDOCNUM, JRNENTRY, etc)

I was thinking this was supposed to be the invoice date (AP or AR)

I have not seen this field used in any GP environment I have worked on yet...including GP 2015 R2. I am guessing one of the following is true:

    1. This is reserved for some future functionality.

    2. This was originally planned for something that never came to be.

    3. This is used by a module that not too many people are using.

Perhaps someone from Microsoft can chime in and let us know the 'official' answer. :)

This makes so much sense!  Thank you for your input.

    This is a field in the GL20000 and GL30000 - in GP 2015 (R2)

It doesn't work in SmartList either - how frustrating.

Here's what the GLTRX SDK document says: "Document Date: The date associated with this transaction. Cash - Cash Amount Date. Check - Check Date. Credit card - Credit Card Date."

But when I search all my databases, I don't find any DOCDATE dates other than 1900-01-01 either.  The date field you need is probably TRXDATE which is when it posted to GL or possibly the ORPSTDDT which is the Originating Posting Date where the GL transaction was posted from the Subledger.

Thanks David!  That's exactly what I get too!  I am modifying my SQL to pull the ORPSTDDT.  I've convinced the people who want this report - is the invoice date really necessary - it's when it hits our books that counts.  Hopefully GP has plans for this field in the future.

    Deanne,

I believe the ORPSTDDT is the actual date the transaction was posted to the subledger, NOT the Doc Date of the original transaction. You might just want to test this out to make sure you're getting what you think you're getting.

Yes Victoria - I have tested that out.  Having that date is better than having no date.
