Limit Posting Periods on Journals

Greetings to all of you.

I am trying to limit the posting periods of the users, by filling the Allow Field to and from fields , on the General Ledger setup Page.

Let's say , we have the example below.

I have noticed that, even with this setup, the system allows users to post journal lines with posting date prior to the allow posting from date ( for example 2/2/2022).

Is it how really works ? And if so , how we can actually limit the posting periods on journals? I know that we can use the user setup page and limit the posting period one by one , but i am confident that there must be a faster way to do so.

Thank you in advance for your time.

With respect,

Antonis

Part of this blog shows of a faster way: joshanglesea.wordpress.com/.../

User setup is the easiest way to control this requirement.

    Antonis,

Posting is controlled by 3 places:

    1. General Ledger Setup - Allow Posting From and To

    2. User Setup - Allow Posting From and To

    3. Fixed Asset Setup - Allow Posting From and To (related solely to Fixed Asset processing)

So if you setup the General Ledger Setup fields, this will control all postings. If any User Setup has values in the fields, this overrides the General Ledger Setup.

Check your User Setup as someone must have a different Posting Date range then that on the General Ledger Setup.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I have a user , with no associated line on the User Setup page. So , basically ,i only have the allow posting from and to from the General Ledger setup page.

However, the system, still , allows the user , to post from a journal, even if the posting date is less than the allow posting from value which i have filled in the gls page.

    Hi

Based on all info provided by many what you have described should not happen. Whoever, we had this strange issue one time with one user (we do not know why) and we did the following

    1) Added user to user setup user page then made sure user cannot post based on user setup page.

    2) Then we removed the user from Setup user page and that fixed the issue.

If this did not help I suggest raise a ticket with Microsoft.

    Antonis,

I would agree with MahGah on next steps. If they are missing, please add them to the User Setup. Then test.

    Thanks,

    Steve
